I’m always negative about myself, how can i stop?

Overcoming a negative self-view involves a few key strategies. One effective approach is practicing self-compassion. This means treating yourself with the same kindness and understanding you would extend to a friend. Recognize that everyone has flaws and makes mistakes, and these do not define your worth. By being gentle with yourself and acknowledging that imperfection is a natural part of being human, you can start to shift your perspective and reduce self-criticism.

Another important technique is challenging your negative thoughts. When you notice yourself engaging in self-critical thinking, take a step back and evaluate whether these thoughts are based on facts or simply distorted perceptions. Try to reframe these thoughts with a more balanced view, focusing on your strengths and accomplishments. This cognitive restructuring can help in gradually altering your mindset and fostering a more positive self-image.

Seeking support from a therapist or counselor can also be beneficial. Professional guidance can provide you with tools and techniques to address and reframe negative self-perceptions effectively. Therapy can help uncover the underlying causes of your negativity and offer strategies for building self-esteem and resilience. Combining these approaches with consistent practice can lead to meaningful changes in how you view yourself.
